Start revving up your hot rods and collector cars
for the Historic Downtown Abbotsford Car Show!

Historic Downtown Abbotsford, BC…The sound of collector cars and classic bands revving up for the annual Historic Downtown Abbotsford Car Show on Saturday, September 17, 2011– 9 am – 3 pm is music to this community's ears.

“What started out 6 years ago as a small car show in conjunction with the grand opening of Ann Marie's Cafe, has grown into a major event in downtown Abbotsford. Once again the north downtown streets will be filled with classic cars, hot rods, the Abbotsford Farm & Country Market, a barbeque with the Trinity Memorial United Church ladies and lots of lively rocking bands,” says Bob King, President of the Historic Downtown Abbotsford Car Show Society.

Rock & roll headliners, the super-charged Blues Brothers Too will open the September 17th show at 9:30 am with their signature moves, grooves and tribute routines. These rascals are highly recognizable in their Blues Brothers gear, and can be heard for blocks over their foghorn booming from an authentic sound-trapped Blues Mobile, complete with cop car motor, tires, siren and lights. You may have heard them during the July 1st Canada Day Parade in Abbotsford or at the Red Robinson Theatre.

Oh, and why not choose this family car show to celebrate 26 years of doing music together? That would be none other than band “1066" who formed back in 1985, and boasts Jim Wilding, a classical violinist and virtuoso old time fiddler, Dave Thomson, one of Canada's finest pipers and member of Celtic band Piper Down; front man Phil Aldridge and drummer Gary Huntbach, who hail from rock bands in England. Asger Hansen on keyboard, is the producer of their CD's including The Rumrunners. Over the years they have shared the stage with such diverse luminaries as "Irish Rover" - Will Millar, jazz pianist Michael Kaeshammer, as well as banjo virtuoso "Fast Eddie" Erickson.


In addition, Horizon featuring Crystal Hicks on vocals joined by a number of great local musicians, plus Flashback, another Abbotsford band, which will have fans rockin' to favorite oldies.


The September 17th car show is very much a family tradition where hundreds of boys (and girls!) show off their shiny toys, the farm & country market vendors hawk their goods, Ann Marie's Cafe team and the church ladies dish up delicious 50’s style food.

Adds King: “And best of all, the proceeds from this year's car show will once again go to the new Matthew's House project on the Campus of Care in Abbotsford.” Public admission to the September 17th Historic Downtown Abbotsford Car Show north of George Ferguson Way, is free.

Classic car and hot rod owners, for a registration fee of $20 get to show off their shiny vehicle, indulge in a hamburger and take home a car show t-shirt, decal and goodie bag. Registration forms are available at Ann Marie's Cafe, Avenue Body Shop or at www.downtownabbycarshow.com

Once again Historic Downtown Abbotsford Car Show , will present the proceeds to HELP BUILD MATHEW”S HOUSE.
